What is Tensai?
Tensai is a Japanese word that means "genius." This is why we strive to create brilliant games here. Games that keep the player thinking.
What we do
This company started when some of us felt a longing for the specific types of games we wanted. The things we weren't seeing.
Founded in 2024, we as individuals were worried about our shortcomings as developers. But we realized that together, we can overcome those weaknesses and create something for our audience. With this, we hope to grow more and more in the near future. And that you will be there to see that growth. You can find out about our upcoming projects here. Blades and Beasts, Powerful Machine Chariot, and many more are on the way.
What makes Tensai special is that we always ask ourselves "Is this actually fun to play? Would we want to play this ourselves?" We then make decisions based on that. It's worth noting that our team is made up of many experienced and talented individuals that know what makes a game fun to play. They know the ins and outs because they've experienced those kinds of games themselves firsthand or have even played them at a high level. We have a connection to what players actually want because we've been on that same journey that we imagine a lot of our audience has.

We want you!
We want our games to be as good as possible. As such, we're looking to form a team of highly skilled members. We want this project to look professional, like a commercial game that could be released in stores or in an arcade.
We can offer you competitive payment for your work and perhaps even a continuous revenue share if you truly shine on our team. If you can provide examples of previous work or proof that you are up to the task, then that will put even more points in your favor.
Jobs Available
Programming
We need a coder capable of creating a 2D fighting game. We also need a network engineer that can implement GGPO rollback netcode. In fact, if you can do both of those tasks, that's a massive plus. We're fine with any engine, but just keep in mind that we want this game to run well even on low end machines so it can be enjoyed by people all around the world regardless of their technical specifications. Your level of experience and education aren't very important to us. We just need to know that you can perform the tasks asked of you. Two characters on a stage. They can interact with each other. People can play this across long distances online. If you can make something like that work well, then you're already halfway there! The other half is being able to follow instructions well and follow the requests of the team. But we're sure you can do that if you are able to read this page.
Illustration
Are you capable of rendering beautiful images? If so, then we have a place for you here. The general art style we're looking for is the "Kemono" variety of manga art. While our games will mostly be sprite based, the backgrounds, various art assets for menus, cutscenes, character portraits, and promotional images will be traditional 2d lineart. As such, we're looking for great artists that can do justice to the unique elements of our characters. Need to be good at following instructions and making consistent pictures of characters based on descriptions and rough concept drawings.
Animation
Can you make great looking sprites? Consistently? On the level of commercial arcade games? Then we will always have a place for you here. The current big project we're working on requires sprite animation for 11 characters. However, there is a twist. The style of animation we're looking for is "limited." Can you convey motion using a small amount of frames? We're aiming for around 300 frames per character. If you're skilled in the art of limited animation and can make the most out of a low amount of frames, then this is the position for you! Need to be good at following storyboards and descriptions of movements.
